There are plenty of things to do around the Gairloch area

Whindley sits on the side of the hill overlooking the bay. The village of Gairloch lies below the house and across the sea the Isle of Skye sits on the horizon.

On a warm summer evening there is nothing better than to sit on the front terrace and watch the sun sinking spectacularly over the hills. 

There is open hill side behind the house which gives you a sense of being close to the wilderness beyond while the facilities offered by Gairloch are within a short walk. 

There is plenty of walking to be done in the local area. You can suit your age and ability with everything from a gentle stroll along the Flowerdale valley to bagging a Munro over 1000m high. There are historical sites to explore and beaches to take in along the way. There are few places better for discovering the varied wildlife of both land and sea.

If history is your interest, there is an excellent award winning museum just 5 minutes away. You can visit the renowned Inverewe gardens 8 miles along the road at Poolewe. There are plenty of picturesque villages to visit and discover.

If you enjoy messing around on the water, there is sailing and fishing to be had in plenty in the area.

There is a 9 hole golf course just down the road which overlooks the famous beach. At Flowerdale you can go pony-trekking and quad biking. Something for all ranges of energy and fitness.

The area is very well served with places to eat out. There are several pubs, hotels and restaurants where you can taste local produce and be assured of a warm welcome
